I like to tweet inspirational quotes here and there, usually early in the morning when I get up. There are so many good one’s and they have such powerful meaning to them.
Thinking of this has led me to one quote that has made a major impact in my life. It is something my dad used to tell me all the time, in both good situations as well as situations of frustration with me when I was younger.
He simply quoted:
” Josh, Don’t think about it. Do it!”
As pissed off as it used to make me when I was younger I now realize how simple but powerful that quote is. My dad used to drill that in my head. If you stop and think about it, there is a lot of sense to it. People waste so much time sitting back thinking and waiting for things to happen in their life and with their work. I hear it all the time, “Oh what could have been,” or “I could do that.” Well what the hell are you waiting for?? ”Don’t think about it. Do it!
Anyway, enough of my rambling. My point here is that this is a quote from my dad that has stuck with me from child hood and has made an impact in my life.
I would like to ask you this,
Is there a quote that you frequently think of that has made an impact in your life? Or even a quote that you refrence frequently?
If so please share by leaving it below.

My Dad has a great one that he actually has framed in his family room:
“This is my house and I’ll do as I damn well please.”
I originally was going to share this just as a witty response, but if you really think about it it can have a deeper meaning than just another sarcastic thing that came out of his mouth. (I now know where I get it from
For me, it essentially means that you can do anything thing you want in life and if you’ve worked hard for something, you shouldn’t let anyone take that from you.

Like the quote “don’t think about it, just do it”. to me, It speaks to the over analytical mind that is the killer of so many dreams. Life is about experiences and sometimes “thinking about it” leads to never doing anything.
The quote that constantly resonates with me is from the amazing novel “going postal” by Terry pratchett. The main character, Moist Van Lip Wig, is a man of big dreams and even bigger actions, he says “Always promise to do the impossible because sometimes the impossible IS possible if you can find the right way and even if you can’t, hey…it was impossible anyway”.

hey Josh I like your quote a lot. You should really think about your quote when you think about getting a beer!
lol jk.
one of the quotes I love and think about a lot is
“everything I do always comes back to me.”
- stefan sagmeister
I’m a true believer of Karma for sure. everyday you make decisions that will effect your life. you really should treat others how you want to be treated. you shouldn’t be surprised to be treated any different than how you treat others. and because of that, it is a lot easier to filter out those ppl who don’t have a positive impact on your life.

It’s really a poem but I heard it first as a quote in Coach Carter–
Timo Cruz: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Josh, Good quote and so true. Overthinking leads to procrastination.
The quote that has always resonated with me is: “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.” Taking this to heart gives everything you do a sense of importance and purpose, even if it’s just doing the dishes…

Hey Josh, Good quote. I like it…
One that I have up on the wall is, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” I think it goes hand in hand with overthinking things. The more you think, the more fear can paralyze you.

Hi Josh,
Great site and wonderful work on Devra’s website. One quote that has always stayed with me over the years…I guess pretty similar to yours.
“procrastination is the enemy of success”
Being a business owner - this one helps keep me focused.

This is the passage I try to live by with my personal life as well as in everything I do with my business life. I have it posted right above my desk so I see it every morning. I believe our minds and ourselves hold us back from so much. And if we were to truly understand how to live by this, the possibilities could be endless.
“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” - Jesus
